It’s been difficult keeping current with updates on the website. We’re still going strong, but the most recent information tends to find its way to FaceBook first.
To stay on top of things with the club, you should definitely “like” the FB page or join the FB “group.”
Forms and events will continue to be posted here.

Lot’s going on the coming weekend.
Saturday, September 19: Match at Old Bethpage Village Restoration.
Village opens at 10am, match begins at 11am. Another exciting day of fast ridin’ and straight shootin’
Sunday, September 20: Demo at the Smithtown Country Fair.
Come down to the Smithtown Historical Society on Middle Country Road in Smithtown. Food, fun, music and mounted shooting. This is always a great event with plenty to do for the entire family. Fair starts at 10am. The Island Long Riders will be performing mounted shooting demonstrations throughout the day.
It was a small match, but a great day with great people. Thanks to everyone who came out to ride, help and watch.
Congratulations to Jimmy for taking the overall title. It was close, with Rich right on his heels. Denise gets top cowgirl honors – You and Poca are looking great.
Also looks like the “old” guy still has some speed left in him. Joe takes the 2015 title of fastest “Gunrunner” in our first-ever rifle runoff. Jimmy can come bear hunting with me anytime! 🙂
Scores available on the “events” webpage: ILR Results
Our initial 2015 schedule is available. See the sidebar or visit our events page.
Plenty of fun planned for this year. Time to wipe the snow away, forget the cold and cowboy up.
First event will be April 19 at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. We plan to offer a new horse/new rider clinic at this event. If you were thinking about getting into Cowboy Mounted Shooting, this is the one for you.
Contact us today for details and to reserve your place in the clinic.
Due to cold weather, the November 15 match has been cancelled. With the expected low temperatures it is not safe for horses or riders.
Hope to see you all next season!

The 2013 CSA NYS Championship match is one for the books. A great day of weather and a fun day of riding for everyone.
Lots of spectators joined the riders at Old Bethpage Village Restoration Village for a day of horses, cowboys and shooting.
Congratulations to the 2013 New York Mounted Shooting Champion – Outlaw Jimmy Wales. It was a hard fought battle but Jimmy pulled it out to win by a narrow margin. Another congratulations to out top ladies champion “Big Red” as she flew through the courses on her Paso Fino.
Everyone did a terrific job at the match. We have come a long way! Keep up the great work.
The Rough Rider Cavalry Detachment was on hand as well. With a full encampment set up, we had a base of operations and fun for those who were able to camp overnight and join them on “moonlight recon” through the village.
Thanks to all the East End Regulators that came out to support and help us. Tombstone Bones, Cottonwood Candy, Deuces, Kandi Keri, Billy Colorado.. (I hope I didn’t miss anyone).
Of course, Sheriff AB Dupree was on hand to keep things going at the gun table. You are the best!
For those who weren’t able to stay after the cookout, you missed some “explosive” fun. Let’s just say there is more than one way to fill a balloon! Not sure I am ready to try that from horseback, but it sure is fun with a filled cup in the off-hand. ‘Nufff said. 🙂
Oh yeah… match results are available here.
The match is on for Saturday, August 24. It will be a FIVE-stage State Championship match. Custom buckles will go to top men and top ladies winners. Rifle side match is available as well.
Time permitting, we will plan to fit in an optional “Cowboy Challenge” stage with obstacles.
After the match, the Island Long Riders will be sponsoring a dinner for all participants.
The Rough Riders Cavalry unit will be joining us at the match and performing a mounted saber demonstration. Those able to stay over until Sunday can watch and participate in cavalry drills including mounted shooting, mounted saber, formation riding and more.
CSA Match starts at 11:00am on Saturday, 8/24. (Safety meeting at 10:30a).
Don’t miss the fun! Contact us with any questions.
